On September 14th, at the Grameen Shikkha premises, an event titled ‘Tesco Scholarship Program – Scholars & Sponsors Get-together’ took place. The program was graced by the presence of Mr. Kene Umeasiegbu, Responsible Sourcing Director, and Ms. Ban Lee, Head of Responsible Sourcing – Non-Food at Tesco.
With a mission to enhance the significance of education for our RMG (Ready-Made Garments) workers and associates, Tesco introduced the Scholarship Program at the end of 2018. Babylon also plays a role by contributing equally to support the education of the children of its workers. One of the notable scholars, Mr. Ashiq Iqbal, son of Showkat Iqbal, an Officer at QAD, Aboni Knitwear Ltd., who is currently pursuing his fourth year in the Department of Microbiology at Jahangirnagar University, was among the invited guests. He shared his aspirations and career plans during the event.
Mr. SM Emdadul Islam, Director of Babylon, shared the inspiring journey of the scholarship program. He encouraged the young scholars to continue their efforts to contribute to our country’s growth and economy. Specially, the motivational speeches of Mr. Umeasiegbu and Ms. Lee from Tesco inspired the students to go beyond the boundaries.
